Weleda is a new member of the CDR Initiative

1. Nov 2021 - Announcement

CDR Initiative is growing: The natural cosmetics and pharmaceuticals manufacturer is now a member of the initiative for digital corporate responsibility, which was launched in 2018 by the Federal Ministry of Justice and Consumer Protection (BMJV).

Weleda is a new member of the CDR Initiative. In the initiative of the Federal Ministry of Justice and Consumer Protection, business, politics and science are working together to strengthen responsible behaviour in the digital transformation.

Founded in 1921 in Arlesheim, Switzerland, the company has been producing natural cosmetics and pharmaceuticals for 100 years. The company's largest production and administration site is in Schwäbisch Gmünd, where over 1000 employees work.

The company has already demonstrated its commitment to comprehensive corporate responsibility with numerous initiatives and awards in the past. For example, Weleda has won the German Sustainability Award and the German government's CSR Award for "responsible supply chain management". The CDR Council, which was founded in 2021, regularly formulates recommendations for action within the company in order to make corporate processes as sustainable as possible and in line with social responsibility.

"For a positive development of people and nature, digitalisation must be shaped responsibly in a joint discourse between business, civil society and politics," says Jakob Wößner, Manager Organisational Development and Digitalisation at Weleda.
